About Suzuki
Suzuki’s first 4×4, launched in 1970, marked a significant milestone as Japan’s first mass-produced 4×4 in the domestic mini-car category. Developed in 1968, it was a compact and lightweight vehicle, featuring three seats with the spare tire positioned behind the front passenger’s seat to adhere to size restrictions. Its simple design included zipped canvas doors and leaf springs, making it capable of handling heavy loads despite its light 600kg weight and 1930mm wheelbase. The separate chassis design enabled the use of lightweight body panels, making this vehicle both efficient and tough.
